RTStable DMEM/F12 Media
With High Glucose, Sodium Pyruvate
DMEM/F-12 (Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle Medium/Nutrient Mixture F-12) is a widely used basal medium designed to support the growth of a broad range of mammalian cell types. Cells commonly cultured in DMEM/F-12 include MDCK cells, glial cells, fibroblasts, human endothelial cells, and rat fibroblasts. Multiple DMEM/F-12 formulations are available to meet diverse cell culture requirements.
RTStable DMEM/F-12 is engineered for room-temperature storage while maintaining robust cell proliferation and achieving maximum cell densities comparable to those obtained with conventional DMEM/F-12 when supplemented with ≥10% fetal bovine serum (FBS).
This DMEM/F-12 is modified as follows:
• Optimized for room temperature stability
• With RTStable Glutamine, Phenol Red
• Without HEPEPS

Using RTStable DMEM/F-12
DMEM/F-12 is a 1:1 mixture of Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle Medium and Ham’s F-12 Nutrient Mixture, combining the high glucose, amino acid, and vitamin content of DMEM with the broad spectrum of nutrients provided by F-12. The medium employs a sodium bicarbonate buffering system and therefore requires a 5–10% CO₂ atmosphere to maintain physiological pH.
The inclusion of RTStable Glutamine reduces toxic ammonia accumulation, enhancing cell viability and growth in a convenient, ready-to-use format. As RTStable DMEM/F-12 contains no proteins, lipids, or growth factors, supplementation with ≥10% fetal bovine serum (FBS) is required for optimal cell culture performance.
